With opioid addiction at an all time high, Massachusetts community & Music Legends banned together Wednesday night to raise awareness & funds for Cape Cod.

With Opioid addiction at an all time high, the Massachusetts community and over 20 Music Legends banned together Wednesday night to raise awareness of and funds for opioid addiction, treatment and recovery programs in the heavily impacted town of Cape Cod

Substance abuse and death by overdose is at epidemic proportions throughout the United States. The most impacted states are in New England, the Midwest and Appalachia. According to The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Barnstable County, which overlaps with Cape Cod, experienced a 340 percent increase in the annual opioid overdose death rate between 2000 and 2015.

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

802084704 1503953473 0 Music The Hope Music Festival brought 20 Rock'n Roll Legends together to perform under the famed Cape Cod Melody Tent -- all to benefit Cape Cod Healthcare and address the opioid addiction and overdose issue head on.

Legendary artists lending their support included Grammy Award-winners Rick Derringer (Hang on Sloopy fame), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Barry Goudreau (former Boston guitarist) and The Uptown Horns (The Rolling Stones); Paul Nelson (Johnny Winter), drummer Marty Richards (J. Geils) Jeff Howell (Foghat), bluesman James Montgomery, Charlie Torres, Charlie Farren, Sandy McDonald, Grace Kelly (saxophonist, Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and more.

The brainchild of Brian Serpone, Brian Serpone Productions and his partners John Ippolito and Linda Apsey, who set out to use music and the arts to revitalize Cape Cod and combat drug abuse.

“The vision of the Hope Music Festival as a single event is to raise money and awareness to fight a national epidemic in one region — Cape Cod and the surrounding area — as a starting point.” -- Brian Serpone

The benefit concert continued to entertain and raise funds with the Red White and Blues After Party across the street at the Cape Cod Resort & Conference Center. An artist meet & greet, cocktails, food and more rock & roll music featuring the NY-based Red, White and Blues Band -- who rocked the late night with many of the artists from the Hope lineup.

A special bonus was a memorial to those members of the community who had lost a loved one to addiction. They were asked to submit photographs of their loved ones in advance of the show so that their memories could be honored at the festival’s after-party.

EPIC CONCERT FUNDRAISER RAISES OVER $250,000.00

In its inaugural year, The Festival raised $250,000 dollars for the new Hope Foundation to combat the opioid abuse epidemic in the area. The concert fundraiser benefits Cape Cod Healthcare, which operates two hospitals in Cape Cod and runs programs to help combat addiction under its Substance Use Disorders Initiative.

The Hope Music Festival initiative is Community Activism at its best. While just a starting point addressing one small region of the country, wouldn't it be great to see them take this show on the road to address the national epidemic in all regions? -- Abbe is SOCIALLY SPARKED™!

Pride still enjoys performing on stage for his legions of fans worldwide… Review by Val Tapia - musicaccordingtomeblog.wordpress.com

Mr. Charley Pride Still Delivers The Goods…After Five Decades.

What can I say about Charley Pride that hasn’t already been said before by countless musical artists over an astonishing 53-year recording career? One thing is certain though: Pride still enjoys performing on stage for his legions of fans worldwide…. at 85 years young, mind you!

Still touring behind his 2017 album Music In My Heart, Pride and his tight-as-nails band have their work cut out for them as far as creating a set list at this point. To their credit, they manage to pull it off with a majority of the audience in attendance.

Kicking off their 90-minute, 25-song set with an instrumental Big Mamou, Pride takes the stage for the night’s second song The Snakes Crawl At Night (from Pride’s debut album Country, 1966) to roaring applause from the Chandler, AZ. crowd on June 14th at Wild Horse Pass Casino.

And the classics kept rolling: songs like The Happiness of Having You, A Whole Lotta Things To Sing About, and Is Anybody Goin’ To San Antone? are just as viable today as they were upon their initial release.

Next, Pride took a minute to welcome and thank the audience for “spending your Friday evening with us.” As the show progressed, you get the sense that Pride comes off as authentic and appreciative for what he’s achieved.

Combine that with a great (and dry) sense of humor, it’s no wonder why he’s been able to sustain the career he has for so long.

Musically, Pride also proved that he doesn’t have to write every song himself in order to make them his own. Throughout the night, several covers found their way into the set such as Kris Kristofferson’s Me and Bobby McGee and Dolly Parton’s God’s Coloring Book.

Two of the covers played were in medley form, unfortunately. Still, he did justice to the late Merle Haggard (I’m A Lonesome Fugitive) and Johnny Cash (Folsom Prison Blues). I’m sure both were grinning from ear-to-ear.

Interestingly, only one song was played from his latest release, Music To My Heart, that being New Patches. Still, it’s good to see that he feels strongly on recording new music when the opportunity arises. Word has it that he’s working on another album this year, which hopefully we’ll hear sometime in 2020.

If there was a “moving” moment in the show, it would have to be when Pride introduced Mississippi Cotton Picking Delta Town (from Pride of America, 1974) as “a song about slaves.” It shows that, while we’ve come a long way in history, there’s still plenty of work that needs to be done yet.

The night concluded with Pride’s biggest pop hit Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’, followed by Hank Williams’ Kaw-Liga, and Cotton Fields. I was surprised that I’m Just Me wasn’t played. However, he still found a happy medium of various material that pleased longtime fans.

The significance of Charley Pride’s music can never be overstated. Do yourself a favor and go see him while you still can. I’m confident that you won’t be disappointed.

Four out of five stars.

The US Press Association is new in comparison to the Mega Media Conglomerates that exist today, but those large, mainstream media outlets once had humble beginnings. The US Press Association unofficially began in 1999 and the company US Press Association Inc. was officially formed in 2001.

The only official USPA - US Press Association websites are https://uspressassociation.org and https://uspressassociation.com

The US Press Association was started in an effort to leverage rights, privileges and accessibility of freelancers with that of the more well know networks and main stream media outlets.

The concept of having strength in numbers was the underlying theme and vision for the organization. The Freelance Press Association was started that same year, but has since merged with the US Press Association. Some of the earliest members of the US Press Association were able to access and report from venues, events and scenes of breaking news that were once commonly restricted for freelance journalist.

Recognizing the importance that "NEW MEDIA" was going to have on the world we live in, the US Press Association had and still has the vision that freelance journalists of all types need an outlet for their stories "YOUR STORIES", and an organization that will be there to help and support them every step of the way.

Members are free to submit stories, photos, video and other forms of media for website submission. Having the member ID, 24/7 online and phone confirmation of membership along with having a profile listed in the USPA database help to increase odds of maximizing the impact of the news event members want to cover by being granted certain privileges.

One point that needs to be clear is that the US Press Association does not give out "press passes", some sites make this claim and it is false!. What we do for our members is issue a US Press Association Press ID, "Press Credentials".

This ID clearly identifies you as a member of our organization and your profile information is able to be verified in our domestic or international database of journalists.

What the US Press Association will do is "help our members acquire press/media passes" to various venues, events etc. We often serve as a liaison between our members and event coordinators, venues or directors. We also issue members assignment letters to various news events, places, venues.

Beware of deception, other sites calling themselves USPA!

We are THE USPA

Don't subject you or your computer to the risk of some of these websites. Many of these illegitimate sites are full or malware, spyware and trojan horses that can severely damage your computer, compromise your online safety and contribute to identity theft. Worst of all they prey on the aspirations of both freelancers and professionals alike with their slickly produced websites and webs of fake agencies and publications, but we urge you not to be deceived by some of the offers that are out there. In this day and age it is easy to fall for misinformation and scams that are available on slickly produced websites. Try to contact or call these websites, if you can find a number.

Friendly Woman Holding Business Card 600w 104385785

One way to help distinguish these fake sites is their use of stock photography throughout the site.

One site uses an image of a so called "reporter" standing just steps away from Air Force One to give the impression that one of their so called "reporters" was able to obtain this level of access.

The use of stock photos on these sites is plentiful and examples of where the images come from can be found at websites like: SHUTTERSTOCK - 123RF - iStockPhoto & Getty Images just to name a few.

Do your research too! Track where YOUR MONEY is going!

You may be surprised to find where your money will be headed, and maybe more surprised to discover it's not even in the United States. If you choose to obtain one of the many so called "Press Passes" that are being sold simply to attempt gaining backstage access to a concert, or attempt to interview a celebrity let us offer you a better solution, "Join the US Press Association".

Unlike fake websites and bogus agencies, we WILL make every effort to help you in a genuine pursuit to cover a great story or event. We offer the support you need, and answer the questions you may have.

Become part of a legitimate movement, a legitimate organization.

We are a member and volunteer based organization and we are passionate about news and media, and we want to help YOU in any way we can.

IF YOU ARE A PROSPECTIVE MEMBER OR SEEKING INFORMATION, FEEL FREE TO CALL OUR TOLL FREE NUMBER OR USE OUR LIVE ONLINE CHAT SUPPORT.

From the moment of our inception, a troubling trend has emerged—imitation websites attempting to pass themselves off as us.

From the moment of our inception, a troubling trend has emerged—imitation websites attempting to pass themselves off as us. We'd express flattery if the consequences weren't so detrimental! These deceptive websites craft elaborate facades, weaving interconnected webs of "press agencies" peddling counterfeit credentials labeled as "press passes." They showcase so-called "publications" to lend an air of legitimacy, creating the illusion of a "pseudo media conglomerate." However, their true aim is to attract individuals, exploiting their work to create an appearance of activity. This is never the ethos of the US Press Association (The USPA).

At the core of our mission is the commitment to drive visitors, viewers, and listeners to your site or social media profile. Joining our organization isn't about us; it's about bringing out the best in you.

The reality is, these imitators lack expertise and understanding. While they may convince some to purchase their deceptive products and showcase a handful of members on their site, these numbers pale in comparison to the vast member base that has chosen to trust us—the original, the authentic, The US Press Association. These sham sites and their operators are eager to uncover our operational secrets.

Why the curiosity? The answer is simple—our dedication to serving and assisting freelance and professional journalists, spanning close to two decades. In contrast, these pop-up websites have a fleeting existence, with some managing to deceive for only a few years.

The surge in these fake "press agencies" is leaving a lasting mark on the integrity of freelance and professional media organizations. Many of these websites are essentially one large web controlled by a few individuals. They establish a business structure and register an office in a state like Nevada, while operating from locations outside the United States, such as Germany, Russia, and others. While residence in other countries is not an issue, the problem lies in the deceptive web they cast to ensnare unsuspecting individuals.

These fraudulent sites entice people with alluring phrases like "get your backstage pass," falsely suggesting that possessing writing, video, or photo access automatically grants backstage privileges. At the US Press Association, we believe in honesty. We educate our members, especially those starting out, about the expectations when securing press passes for specific places or events.

"We need to take a stance against this type of deceptive practice."

We refuse to engage in luring, lying, or cheating to gain members. Our community is built on solid, informed decisions by individuals who chose an organization aligned with their values. Stand with us, and rest assured—we always have the best interests of our members at heart.

Stand with us. Become a member today.

Stand with us. Become a member today.
