You Haven’t Heard Jazz Until You’ve Been to the Hampton Jazz Festival The annual Hampton Jazz Festival in Hampton, Virginia, is a world-class celebration of jazz, blues, soul, R&B and pop music held at the iconic Hampton Coliseum. Many attendees came for the festival and tradition but others were looking forward to hearing Gladys Knight's performance The three-day event features performances from legendary headliners and famous artist from around the world, with past performers including Phyllis Hyman, Melba Moore, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, David Sanborn and Dionne Warrick. Friday's performance featured a lively show by Leela James, Michael McDonald, Gladys Knight and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue at the Hampton Coliseum. Multi-Grammy-winner Babyface and soul newcomer Judith Hill were one of the many artists to perform on Saturday night lineup. New Edition took the Coliseum back in time on Saturday's night performance as the group performed a number of their biggest hits and their new # 1 song ‘This One's for Me and You' Sunday's show featured two perennial favorites: Charlie Wilson and Stephanie Mills. Both were mainstays on the R&B charts in the '80s – Wilson as the frontman for The Gap Band and Mills as one of the most successful R&B female acts of the era. This annual gathering has become more of a reunion – a celebration friends, family, culture, music, and life. Copyright © 2016, USPressAssociaion
