You Haven’t Heard Music Until You’ve Been to the African American Festival
The African American Festival is the largest free cultural festival on the East Coast. The Festival is a family-event celebrating the life, music and culture of the African American community in Baltimore, MD, outside of Camden yards with hundreds and thousands of attendees each year, it is one of the largest cultural festivals on the east coast. The festival attracts top musical acts, as well as showcasing emerging local talent. The festival was hosted by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the City of Baltimore and produced by greiBO Entertainment. Vivica A. Fox hosted the main stage on Saturday, and the lineup included Music Choice Artists, 4EY The Future, Damond, Ruff Endz, Blushhh Music (Mathew Knowles’ Group), Goapele, Philadelphia Freeway, Ro James, Angie Stone and Joe. Mathew Knowles’s group Blushhh Music comprised of one singer and two rappers performed songs mixed with major 90s throwbacks. On Sunday, the main stage was hosted by Jonathan Slocumb, Maurette Brown Clark and Brave Williams. The lineup consisted of Music Choice Artists, Ex Music, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, Mary Mary, Joe Maye, Gourdan Banks, Estelle, and Common. The African American Festival boasted talent, food, vendors, and attendees across its entire location displaying an array of African-American and Baltimore culture. This annual gathering has become a celebration a friends, family, culture, music, and life.
